Our Mission

We work in Switzerland and South Africa with minorities and the most vulnerable among us.  We work to break the cycle of poverty in South Africa, addressing six of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

We work with local not-for-profit organisations, focusing on
sustainable solutions that address needs for housing, education, and access to healthcare (both physical and mental).

We provide skills, resources and know-how to help them better meet the needs of their communities and become self-sufficient in the long term.

We are committed to the reduction of inequalities within and between communities.

To achieve these goals, we work with partners.

Development Goals

1

No Poverty

S4A directly addresses Goal 1 by improving living standards for families and individuals through community-based poverty alleviation. We construct better homes, sanitary ablution blocks, and cooking facilities—all essential infrastructure for restoring human dignity and creating a foundation for future development.

No Hunger

S4A is actively involved in creating self-sustainable food systems through community gardens, snail farming, and training kitchens. These projects not only combat hunger but also provide a reliable source of income and nutrition, supporting long-term food security and local resilience.

Good Health and Well-Being

While S4A does not provide healthcare services directly, we contribute to health and well-being by:
Ensuring access to clean water and sanitation through better ablution infrastructure:
Supporting the mental and physical health of vulnerable groups by stabilizing their living conditions.
Promoting rehabilitation and recovery through support for young adults seeking substance abuse treatment in accredited centers.
Our infrastructure interventions contribute to healthier environments and reduce exposure to disease and stress for people living in poverty.

Quality Education

In alignment with Goal 4, We4SA supports Early Childhood Development (ECD) programs, ensures school access for all children, and provides school supplies and uniforms. We also prioritize skills training and vocational development, helping young people and adults move toward financial independence and sustained employability.

Reduced Inequalities

S4A stands firmly against systemic exclusion and the racial bias embedded in South Africa’s BBBEE policy.
As a Non-BBBEE organization, our mission is to reduce inequality by assisting people who are actively excluded from employment and aid based on race.
We promote social justice and equal opportunity by supporting individuals solely based on need, not race or political status.

We4SA’s work is powered by partnerships with donors, foundations, and institutions across Switzerland, Europe, and globally. We foster collaboration with local NGOs, private sector sponsors, and community leaders to scale impact, share knowledge, and ensure accountability.
These partnerships allow us to extend our reach, improve efficiency, and contribute meaningfully to global development targets.

Our Beliefs

Why We Care

The founding team of Swiss4Afrika has a long-standing connection to South Africa. We are aware of the difficulties that many people are currently experiencing. We also believe that South Africa has great potential.

We are aware that there are numerous minority non-profit organisations operating within local communities that are facing significant challenges due to a lack of resources.

These non-profit organisations unfortunately find themselves in a position where they are unable to access funding due to the Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) of the South African government

This policy which aims to facilitate broader participation in the economy by black people makes it challenging for minority group orphanages, homeless shelters and old age homes to apply for grants or social aid from the South African government, big South African-based corporates and even from locally registered Non-Profit foundations.

And yet they are the only hope for members of their communities.

By helping these local non-profit organisations to be more robust and self-sufficient, we believe they can make a real difference where it matters most.
